This album is the result of the Spring 2022 section of Sound Synthesis: Analog / Digital Hybrids, offered through RISD’s Digital + Media department and Computation, Technology and Culture program, and led by Mark Cetilia; it features new works by Will Johnson, Yasemin Sarıhan Low Yu Hong, Ze, Louis (Shijie Li), Max Pierce, Min-wei Ang, and Gaz Ehrreich.

In this intensive studio course, students focused on the creation of experimental sound works utilizing hybrid analog / digital systems. We investigated synthesis techniques using the SuperCollider programming language / environment in conjunction with the Digital + Media department's Serge modular synthesizer. Students leveraged the strengths of these tools towards uniquely personal production platforms that are more than the sum of their parts.
